Taking Off Our Masks

How would it feel to take off your mask?

Our mask is the face we show to the world. Its beginnings stem from the original strategies we created to navigate through our childhoods. Some of these "creative adjustments" still work, but mostly they interfere in connecting to our true self, our essence. And they block our ability to express our heart-felt feelings to those we care for. Learning to identify our masks in order to express our authentic selves is one of the primary goals in the therapeutic process.

With accurate seeing and gentle guidance, I will assist you in identifying the persona that you've created—your approach to the world. Together, we will discover how this persona may no longer be working for you, and then go deeper to discover more of the real you. Taking off your mask paves the way to reconnecting with your long protected vulnerabilities, freeing withheld energies/resources and ultimately developing a more fulfilling inner life. As you learn to accept and genuinely express more of your true self, you'll begin to feel more in touch with your inner being more of the time. This creates a new sense of aliveness and enthusiasm which naturally has you feeling more intimatedly connected to important others in your life.

Present Centered Therapies is a way to forge new beginnings from the inside out by creating a new way of being in the world. Take off your old mask and allow your essence to shine through!
